Advice on biology degree versus biotechnology degree...? | |
In the spring I will begin studies toward a bachelors degree. Am debating the pros and cons of a Bachelor of Biology or Biological and Physical Science, or a Bachelor of Biotechnology. The biotech program seems much more hands-on with a strong science focus at the expense of art and literature, but the University of Houston catalog implies it leads right into studies for an advanced degree in veterinary, medical or biology. The biology major seems to offer a more well-rounded education, yet more theory and less lab experience. Anybody have any advice or comments? I know the final choice is mine and I have time to decide, but it is a difficult decision so any advice is appreciated.
Answers:
1It really depends what you want to do with your degree. I actually started at U of H for a Biology degree and switched to Biotech after 2 years. For myself i wanted a job leabning more towards genetics and this was the route to go.
